Andy Rubin’s Essential company have been a bit shaky lately. The company announced various products (Essential Phone in May) but have yet to ship the devices in question. The company recently made a known statement suggesting that the devices are ‘near release’ but yet to surface.
In a new report from Wall Street Journal we see that Amazon and Tencent have invested $300 million into Andy Rubin’s Essential company, according to people familiar with matters. The report goes on to claim that the Investment from Amazon’s Alexa Fund could help in having Alexa pre-installed on the Essential Phone devices.
Other investors listed on the company;s investors page mention the inclusion of Redpoint, Playground, Access Technology Ventures, VY Vapital, Altermeter Capital and Foxconn.
The Essential Phone was recently listed on Amazon and Ebay, insinuating close shipment to consumers. The Essential PH–1 device will employ Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC of CPU(Kryo 280 Octa-core) clock at 2.45GHZ Quad and 1.9GHZ Quad of 64bit on 10nm processor and also GPU of clock rate of 710MHZ (Adreno 540). The device will also have 4GB of Ram, use USB Type-C, and have 128GB of on board storage. It’ll have a 13-MP rear and 8-MP front camera.
