Information about a device can come from many places: through employees, through leaked renders, through press conferences. In the case of the upcoming HTC U11, it’s the box. A new leaked snapshot of the box that the U11 will come packaged in shows us a pretty detailed run down of the phone’s specs, and from this, we can tell that the U11 is dressed to impress.
It’s rocking a 5.5 inch display at QHD resolution (2560 x 1440). That’s down from the U Ultra’s 5.7 inches. It’ll most likely be utilizing Super LCD 5 technology. Powering it will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC with the Adreno 540 GPU. This is backed up by 6 GB’s of RAM. For the camera package, it has a 12 megapixel rear camera at f/1.7 aperture, which uses HTC’s Ultra pixel technology, with a 16 megapixel front facing camera at f/2.0 aperture. Other features include IP57 water and dust resistance, Quick Charge 3.0, 3D audio recording, BoomSound, support for Hi-Res audio and Edge Sense. Edge Sense seems to be the functionality which deals with the sides of the device.
That’s quite the list. The U11 is shaping up to be a powerful device, and hopefully it will hold its own against the competition better than the U Ultra. The only critical bit of information about the device that’s missing is the battery capacity. All we can say is that we hope it’s larger than the 3,000 mAh battery present in the U Ultra.
With the Galaxy S8 and the LG G6 out and about, it’s going to be exciting to see what HTC has to bring to the table. Let me know what you think about this in the comments below.
