Huawei’s been launching successful device after successful device. 2016’s been a fantastic year for the company and it looks like they’re still not stopping. Their main line of premium smartphones, the “P” series, is soon to have another iteration. Their P9 is a fantastic device, employing their in-house Hisilicon Kirin 955 SoC and their Leika branded camera. With such a nice device under their belt, Huawei will have to come up with a powerful device if they want to leapfrog it; and I think they have.
This device’s specifications passed through GFXbench recently, and we see some nice things there. Starting with the display, it seems that Huawei has finally made the move to Quad HD (2560 x 1440) with a 5.5 inch panel. They did a great job with the display of the Nexus 6P, so let’s hope that they bring the same quality. The processor package seems to be the latest SoC from Huawei’s own Kirin line. The processor is named “Hi3660” clocked at 2.3 GHz. Accompanying it will be the ARM Mali-G71 GPU. As for memory, it’ll have 6 GB’s of RAM and 256 GB’s of on board storage, which is looking to become the standard for 2017. The camera package looks to be around 12 megapixels and can record in 4K with a front facing camera at around 8 megapixels.
These are just a rough outline of the specs, which tells less than half of the story of this phone, but this is a great start. The P10 will be bringing the latest and greatest that Huawei has to offer. They made a splash this year in the budget market, but it’s time to give their front runner some attention.
