Remember the Blu R1 HD, or, the $50 smartphone from a little while back? It was a decent phone at a more than decent price. It seemed too good to be true, until you found out that in order for it to be $50, you had to be a Prime member and the phone would display ads periodically. But hey, a lot of people would deal with the ads in order to get a phone that inexpensive. The story is the same for the $99 Moto G4 Play. Paying less than $100 for a phone is often a heck of a deal, and the G4 Play is no exception.
It comes with a 5 inch, IPS LCD display at 720p resolution, coming to 294 pixels per inch. It’s rocking the midranged quadcore Snapdragon 410 SoC (Cortex-A53 at 1.2 GHz) with the Adreno 306 GPU, backed up by 2 GB’s of RAM. It’s still a capable processor that’ll get you through your tasks. It sports an 8 megapixle rear camera with an LED flash, HDR and panorama. It’s good for 1080p video recording at 30 fps. It also comes with a 5 megapixel front camera. Both cameras are at f/2.2 aperture. Powering it all is a 2800 mAh battery. It supports Micro-sim cards and come with 16 GB’s of onboard storage.
All around, a solid phone that really betrays the $99 price tag. If you’re a Prime member, and can stand to see ads every now and then, then this phone would be a heck of a buy. It’ll become available September 15th, so don’t forget to add it to your wishlist!
